Fairvue, also known as the historic Isaac Franklin Plantation, was built in 1832. Isaac Franklin was a successful slave trader who sold about 1,200 enslaved people into the Southwest region. He earned almost $1,000,000 in his lifetime. For the next several years, the plantation changed hands and then was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. The area was later evolved into a golf course community, with this, the National Historic Landmark title was withdrawn in 2005. The grounds are rumored to be haunted, presumably by some of the slaves that were involved with Franklin's dealings.

Several Criminal Investigations

I worked as a police officer several years before this property sold to developers. We were to always respond here with backup, due to the number of reported occurrences. I responded one night when the caretaker reported an axe flying by him and sticking into the wall. I saw the axe and took the report. He quit that night. Slaves were seen walking the grounds by our officers, on many occasions. This often included children. We didn’t discuss it much, for obvious reasons. Is it haunted ? Yes, it was and may still be. But, so much destruction by developers has happened, I don’t know about now. The main mansion and slave houses were NOT “empty”.
