Historic Cragfont
Castalian Springs, TN 37031
The first Cragfont (log cabin) was built in 1785 by brothers James and George Winchester. George was killed in 1794 by Indians and James and his wife Susan continued to build the upscale manor house Cragfont. They later finished the build in 1802. The mansion has since then been restored and is open to the public. Caretakers have seen spirits and objects that had been moved, candles that lit by themselves, beds that had been disturbed and more after visiting hours were over. Some of these occurences have been caught in photos and on video. Conway Twitty, a Country star, was one of the witnesses who had seen such activity and left the home after he said things were being thrown at him.
