Thousands of soliders were killed in the 1862 Battle of Shiloh, several of whom are said to still haunt the battlefield. There are many legends that surround the battlefield and visitors may see apparaitions and hear drumming, voices, footsteps and ghostly gunshots. The pond that is nearby is said to randomly turn red, an eerie repeat occurrence from the blood of dead soldiers and horses who had once laid in the water.

Paranormal

I’ve camped there several times. I had an experience while camping there. I don’t tell anyone what exactly happened because it’s so unbelievable I fear people will think I’m crazy. But it happened. I was so shocked by the experience, I threw my tent in the trunk and left in the middle of the night.

Strange Fog

I was there in early April of 2023. I had been visiting relatives in Mississippi and I went to Shilo as a detour stop as I was heading back home to Minnesota. It was late afternoon on a Sunday when I arrived and the park was nearly empty. It had been a cloudy day. There may have been rain earlier, but the sky was clearing and the sun was starting to peak through the clouds. I purchased a download audio tour that you listen on your cell phone. I had it playing through my Tahoe's Bluetooth speakers as i drove around to different sites. It uses GPS to note your location and tells you important things that happened in the area. It was getting late and I definitely didn't want to be in that place after sundown. I stopped somewhere on the road in the park in front of an open field with cannons aligning one side of the field. It was unique because most parts of the battlefields are covered in large forests now. Anyway, as I was sitting in my SUV overlooking the field, the tour finished playing and I noticed a slight fog developing in the field. It seemed to come up from the ground and I assumed it's formation was due to some moisture remaining in the grass and a change in atmospheric temperature as the sun went behind the tree lines and monument shadows stretched out. However, as I watched the field, the fog grew thicker and thicker until I could not clearly see the opposing tree line. This didn't immediately concern me, but the fog started to twist and rotate as if something was stirring it up. Then things got a little freaky. The audio tour unexpectedly started playing again, but this time there was no narration, only the sound of horses, and men marching with clanking sounds and a horn in the background. The fog almost looked like it was separating as a ghostly "army" marched down the middle of the field. Since, I don't take any drugs, I didn't know what to think of it and somehow thought I must be hallucinating. I started my vehicle up and quickly drove following the park exit signs. I didn't look back. I never told anyone about it but was researching Ghosts of Shilo thar brought me here. So, here's my story

Strange Thing Happened

I stopped by on my way to Ripley MS. from Nashville in 2013. This was the first time I had been there. When coming in on Pittsburgh landing road I stopped at the third pull off to stretch my legs and have a smoke. While looking around and reading the plaques I started to feel my leg burning. I looked to see if something had stung me but nothing there. I reached in my pocket to check but the only thing in it was my Case pocket knife. When I pulled it out it was so hot I could not hold it and dropped it on the ground. I picked it up and had to juggle it between my hands. After a few minutes it was back to normal.
I still think about this and wonder if something was interested in my knife . I have been back, without anything strange happening.

Maybe gunshots…I dont know

We were down by the Shiloh church. My wife went to check out the church and I was on the other side of the road, looking through the woods at a soldier statue. I heard what sounded like gunshots. Paranormal? I don’t know. I believe there are people who live in the area…perhaps someone was target shooting. But it did make me curious.

But they liked me and heard we love ya!! They were young men and sacrificed so much and sang Dixie for them and wind blew around me and hard footsteps walking around and I said what is that!!! I said I mean no disrespect and left

Paranormal experience

beautiful park to visit. didn’t like the fact that as I was leaving the park—before I got to the stairs— I felt tugging on the back of my shirt. By the time I stopped to tell my boyfriend about it. We both heard a growl. But no dogs were around. Still Erie about it until this day.

Footsteps, evp.

Two years ago my wife and I both heard hardsoled boots running on hard ground. I am a very skeptical person btw. I ran up to the spot where it came from to just double check. No one or nothing else was around.

Last week my wife and I returned. We stopped at a confederate burial trench to do some EVPs.
My wife picked up three different voices that were clear as a bell. "Go away", "don't", and "I see you".

We heard nothing with our ears, it was only heard after we replayed it.
